A 16-year-old boy from Byrea has been arrested and charged with attempted murder in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred in North Union earlier this year.
Police reported that the arrest was made on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, following ongoing investigations into an altercation that took place on October 3, 2025. According to investigators, the accused allegedly carried out an act “more than merely preparatory” to the offence when he stabbed the complainant in the head with a pair of scissors.
The teen was brought before the Serious Offences Court on Tuesday, where he was not required to enter a plea, as the charge is indictable and will be forwarded to the High Court for trial.
Senior Magistrate did not withhold bail, instead granting the youth EC$20,000 bail with one surety. As part of the bail conditions, the minor:
- Must have no contact with the complainant
- Must surrender all travel documents
- Has stop notices placed at all ports of entry
- Is required to report to the Georgetown Police Station every Tuesday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
The matter was adjourned to January 1, 2026, pending further proceedings.
