ULP candidate Grace Walters has publicly conceded defeat in the North Windward constituency following Thursday’s general election, sharing a heartfelt message of gratitude and faith with supporters in a Facebook post on the evening of November 27.
In her statement, Walters thanked constituents for the “support, encouragement and advice” offered throughout her nine-month campaign, describing the experience as an “exciting journey” that allowed her to strengthen old relationships and build new ones.
“The love that you have shown me over the last 9 months has been overwhelming,” she wrote.
Walters urged her supporters not to be discouraged by the results, grounding her concession in her religious faith.
“I am also asking you not to feel too badly about the loss. As I have always said, if God says ‘NO’ I will accept and I have and so should you.”
While acknowledging her disappointment, she emphasized that she felt neither shame nor sadness, expressing confidence that there is divine purpose behind the outcome.
Throughout the message, Walters maintained a strong commitment to the development of North Windward, crediting the United Labour Party for laying the foundation for the constituency’s future.
“North Windward is already set for the future. The platform is there, the foundation was laid by the ULP, we just need to continue to focus on our goals.”
She assured supporters that she would continue to serve the community in any way she can.
“I will always be here for you… I will do my best to help in whatever way I can as I am sure you will do the same for me.”
Walters also offered congratulations to the constituency’s newly elected representative, Mrs. John, expressing hope for her effective leadership.
“We look forward to her representation, interventions and fulfillment of promises.”
She closed her message with a warm farewell to her supporters:
“Thank you so much Comrades. I will always love you and we will be in touch.”
Walters’ gracious concession has been met with positive reactions online, as many supporters commended her poise and dedication throughout the campaign.
