A Georgetown woman is calling for urgent police action after her 11-year-old niece was allegedly sexually assaulted in September by a 16-year-old boy from Diamonds Village. The aunt, Allison Campbell, says she fears the case is not being given the attention required to protect the child and ensure justice is served.
Speaking exclusively with Cliplet News, Campbell said the alleged incident took place in September and was immediately reported to the Georgetown Police Station, where officers recorded a formal statement. According to Campbell, police later detained the 16-year-old suspect but released him approximately three hours later without charge—a development that has since fueled her concern and frustration.
Medical Report Supports Child’s Claim, Aunt Says
Campbell told Cliplet News that a medical officer examined the child following the report, and documentation confirms evidence consistent with digital penetration. She described the findings as heartbreaking and said the family is struggling to cope while waiting for what they consider meaningful progress in the investigation.
“This is a child. We did everything we were supposed to do. We went to the police, we got the medical report, and still nothing,” Campbell said. “It feels like the system is not protecting her.”
Police Officer Identified Only by Surname
Campbell said the investigating officer is known to her only by the surname Butler. She expressed disappointment that despite providing medical documents, giving statements, and cooperating with investigators, the family has received little communication about the next steps.
“To this day, no charges have been laid against the boy,” Campbell emphasized. “I keep asking: what else do they need?”
Police: Investigation Ongoing
Cliplet News contacted the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) for comment. A officer acknowledged awareness of the report and confirmed that the investigation remains active. However, they declined to provide further details, citing legal protocols governing cases involving minors.
The officer noted that investigations into sexual offences, especially those involving children, require careful evidence-gathering, multiple stages of review, and coordination with specialized units.
Community Concern Growing
Residents of the area who spoke informally with Cliplet News said they are disturbed by the allegations and hope authorities treat the matter with urgency. One neighbor described the case as “deeply worrying,” adding that the community is closely watching to see how the investigation unfolds.
Aunt: “My Niece Deserves Justice”
Campbell said she intends to pursue the matter until the family receives clarity from law enforcement. She believes the child deserves closure and protection, and she insists that delayed action could place other vulnerable minors at risk.
“I am speaking out because silence won’t help her,” she said. “We want justice. We want accountability. We want this case taken seriously.”
As the investigation continues, Cliplet News will provide updates when more information becomes available.
