An Ottley Hall man charged in connection with the alleged kidnapping of two people in Arnos Vale has been remanded to prison while he awaits a bail review scheduled for January 8, 2025. Kyle Providence was brought before the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday, Old Year’s Day, where he faced four indictable charges including kidnapping, robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm. He was not required to enter a plea.
Prosecutor Sergeant Shamrock Pierre objected to bail, telling the court that the allegations are serious and that the investigation is still at an early stage. He said that a firearm linked to the matter has not yet been recovered, and that police still consider another individual a person of interest. Pierre added that about six witnesses have been identified and statements are being collected. He asked the court to remand Providence for at least two weeks before bail is considered so police can continue their work.
Providence, who appeared without legal representation, told the court he felt two weeks was too long and that remaining in custody would make it difficult for him to secure legal assistance or raise funds for a lawyer. He said that as police were preparing their case, he too wished to be fully prepared.
Chief Magistrate Colin John ordered Providence to be remanded until January 8, 2026.
Providence is accused of abducting Jolisha Tash, 31, of Edinboro/England, and Omari Millington, 17, of Edinboro, on December 28, 2028. It is further alleged that he was armed with a gun during the incident and stole a gold iPhone 16 Pro Max valued at £2,000 from Tash, placing her in fear. He is also charged with having an unlicensed firearm, make and serial number unknown.
Police previously stated that reports of a kidnapping were received early Monday morning. According to the release, around 1:30 a.m. on December 29, 2025, two masked men allegedly took the victims from Arnos Vale to Belair without consent. The minor was reportedly injured during the ordeal. Officers later approached a vehicle believed to be connected to the matter along the Belair public road, where gunshots were fired in their direction. One man reportedly exited the vehicle holding what appeared to be a rifle and escaped on foot, while three individuals ran from the vehicle. Police detained one suspect, while another remained at large.
A wanted bulletin was later issued for Jamal McMaster in relation to the case. He surrendered to police on Wednesday accompanied by attorney Ronnie Marks.
