Self-proclaimed prophet Jason Providence is reportedly facing possible legal action after making controversial statements on Facebook about a woman and her minor daughter.

The controversy erupted after Providence published a lengthy Facebook post in which he referred to the child as a “spiritual lunatic” while attempting to defend himself against allegations being circulated online about his ministry.

In the same post, Providence made several claims about the child’s personal condition and the mother’s private affairs, including allegations that the woman spent more than US$10,000 travelling overseas in search of spiritual help for the mother and child.

He also claimed the child had not spoken “in a very long time” before allegedly speaking again and accused the mother of refusing to financially support his ministry.

The post quickly sparked backlash online, with several social media users criticising Providence for publicly discussing a minor child and sharing what many described as sensitive personal matters.

Cliplet News was informed that legal consultations are now underway regarding possible defamation proceedings against Providence over the statements made in the Facebook post.

Sources close to the matter said the woman disputes several of the claims made by Providence and considers the statements false, damaging and harmful to both her and her daughter.

The latest controversy has also revived previous allegations surrounding Providence and requests for money in exchange for spiritual services.

Under the same Facebook post, the woman stated that Providence requested a minimum payment of US$2,000 to pray for her daughter and shared what she said were WhatsApp messages connected to the exchange.

“I have a WhatsApp text and voicenotes that he sent me charging me minimum $2,000 to pray for my daughter,” the woman wrote publicly online.

She also stated that she was later blocked after questioning why payment was being requested for prayer.

Cliplet News has reviewed material said to be connected to some of the allegations, including messages, voice notes and other supporting information, which has been verified.

Providence has continued defending himself and his ministry through Facebook posts, livestreams and other social media broadcasts.

The prophet has remained a controversial figure across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and elsewhere in the Caribbean for several years due to his online deliverance sessions, prophetic warnings and public confrontations.

As previously reported by Cliplet News, several persons alleged that Providence charged hundreds — and in some cases thousands — of dollars for private consultations, deliverance ministry and prophetic services in SVG, Guyana, the British Virgin Islands and other territories.

Some individuals also alleged they were asked to cover flights, accommodation and other expenses connected to ministerial visits.

The allegations triggered strong debate online, with critics accusing Providence of exploiting vulnerable people under the guise of ministry, while supporters argued that financial contributions and donations are normal within religious organisations.

Providence has also previously faced legal scrutiny.

In September 2023, he was ordered to pay EC$10,000 in damages in a defamation case connected to comments made during an alleged exorcism livestream broadcast on his church’s Facebook page.

Three months later, in December 2023, Providence was freed of an indecent assault charge after the Family Court upheld a no-case submission.
