A man from Diamond is now facing a murder charge after his nephew was fatally stabbed during what sources describe as a family dispute that escalated over a meal decision. The accused, 59-year-old Emmanuel Matthews, was brought before the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, where he was informed of the allegation that on Dec. 29, 2025, he caused the death of Brandon Child of Villa.
Chief Magistrate Colin John read the indictable charge to Matthews, who was not eligible for bail at this point in the proceedings. He was ordered to remain in custody and is expected to return to court on Feb. 2, 2026. The chief magistrate also urged the lead investigator, Detective Constable 227 Jemmy Arthur, to have the matter ready when it resumes.
Information reaching Cliplet News suggests that the incident stemmed from an argument in the home reportedly over whether rice or “sauce food” should be prepared, which allegedly escalated into a fatal confrontation. Child later succumbed to his injuries.
Cliplet News will continue to monitor updates on the case as it progresses through the court.
