Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves has ignited fresh controversy after claiming that “a little bird” informed him that the opposition New Democratic Party (NDP) would start a riot if the ruling Unity Labour Party (ULP) wins the upcoming election.

Speaking during a recent address, the Prime Minister said he had been warned that NDP supporters were allegedly prepared to create unrest in the event of a ULP victory. Gonsalves presented the allegation as something he had been “told,” offering no evidence for the claim.

He went further, directly referencing Leader of the Opposition Dr. Godwin Friday, stating that Friday — a Canadian citizen — would supposedly flee the country if disturbances broke out. According to Gonsalves, “Canada will come and fly him out,” implying that foreign intervention would be sought to extract the opposition leader during any political turmoil.

The remarks have raised eyebrows across the political landscape. No independent sources have confirmed any plans for unrest, and the NDP has not issued an official response to the Prime Minister’s statements.

Cliplet News will continue to follow developments as tensions rise ahead of the national vote. At this time, there is no verified evidence of any planned riot or coordinated action by the NDP or its supporters.

  1. Anyone who starts a statement with “a lil birdie told me…” it lie they telling. It is the opener to a statement of projection.

The politics of psychological projection – Typical H H political propaganda election tactic. The estimation is that most people will recall something about party supporters been called out on the night of the elections, after the results have been declared, and it is hope that they will not recall that it was Ralph Gonzalves who said it, so that when he returns at a later date and make the same or similar statement but as something the NDP will do – it is likely to capture undescerning persons off guard and into believing this latest iteration.
    BUT…
It was Ralphie who first said that he was calling on Labour Party warriors to come out in their numbers on Election night to deal with any NDP people who don’t want to believe the ULP won the elections.
Now, he is accusing the NDP of what he had called for. That is political psychological projection.
Three persons with the last name that starts with H, and nine other Barbados Labour Party operatives are responsible for bringing home a victory not only for Ralphie and his ULP but for all of the Caribbean red-party red-federation and they intend for it to happen and then called on the Caricom election observation team on the ground in Vincy, to give it their “Official Stamp of Approval.” They are going to “win” this election no matter what; that is their intent and goal. That is the plan. They cannot afford to lose a stalwart and significant political party to their plan, such as St.Vincent ULP, in building the parastatal regional red-federation, as they have an uphill battle to wrestle T&T from the UNC and Jamaica from the JLP.
