Speaking at a Unity Labour Party (ULP) rally last night, Dr. Grace Walters urged voters to “keep the NDP in opposition,” while praising the ULP’s record and leadership ahead of the November 27 general election.

Walters told the crowd that the ULP has “delivered for the people” over the past 25 years, saying the party’s performance had been judged repeatedly by voters and “every time it was graded, it has done well.” She expressed confidence that voters would “grade the party again” and return it to office on election day.

Highlighting what she described as a clear contrast between the two major parties, Walters said voters have witnessed the leadership styles of both the ULP and the NDP and can make their comparison. “When you look, you can tell the difference,” she said, adding that in her view “the ULP is the only party” capable of leading the country.

Walters also criticized the NDP’s handling of internal matters and the behaviour of some of its supporters, accusing the party of showing “disregard for the people.” Referring to NDP leader Godwin Friday, she argued that the party under his leadership is “incompatible” with the country’s needs—remarks that drew a strong reaction from the ULP crowd.

As she closed her address, Walters urged supporters to take the upcoming election seriously. She warned that failing to do so could lead to consequences the nation would not want to face.
