A man identified as Renold Quashie, also known locally by the nickname “Bagga,” was found dead at his residence in Rutland Vale, Layou, on Tuesday morning, according to sources familiar with the incident.
The man was reportedly discovered at approximately 8:00 a.m. after neighbours found him near the porch area of his home. Emergency assistance was sought, but he was later confirmed dead at the scene.
A medical professional who attended the scene reportedly observed a serious head injury. Sources familiar with the incident alleged that the injury appeared to be consistent with a stab wound. However, other residents have suggested that Quashie may have suffered a fall from the porch of his home, where he was known to spend much of his time. Authorities have not officially confirmed the cause of death or the circumstances surrounding the incident, and investigations are ongoing.
Residents described Bagga as a familiar face in the Layou community and said he had experienced health and mobility challenges in recent years. Sources said he had lost a foot and faced difficulties moving around.
Investigators are expected to examine the circumstances leading up to the incident as questions remain about how the injuries occurred and whether foul play was involved.
The death has left residents of Layou and surrounding communities shocked, with neighbours expressing sadness over the loss of a member of their community.
