Police have launched a homicide investigation following the fatal shooting of a man in Rockies on Thursday night, bringing St. Vincent and the Grenadines’ homicide count to 30 for the year.

The deceased has been identified as Akeem Ferdinand, also known by the alias Chaka Bom,” of Gurley Hill, Rockies.

Preliminary reports indicate that Ferdinand was shot at approximately 8:30 p.m. at the residence where he lived. He was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.

Investigators have confirmed that Ferdinand had been released from His Majesty’s Prison (HMP) less than two weeks before the incident. Reports indicate he was released on July 31, 2026.

The circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting remain unclear, and police have not disclosed a possible motive or identified any suspects. Officers from the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force are continuing their investigations and are expected to interview witnesses and examine evidence collected from the scene.

The killing marks the country’s 30th homicide recorded this year, as law enforcement continues to investigate a number of violent crimes across St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Police are urging anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact the nearest police station or the Criminal Investigations Department.
