Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves has accused the opposition New Democratic Party (NDP) of deploying trucks to block supporters from attending a Unity Labour Party (ULP) youth rally taking place tonight.

Speaking moments ago, Gonsalves told supporters that vehicles had allegedly been positioned along certain routes leading to the event, making it difficult for young people to reach the rally grounds. He described the alleged tactic as “desperate” and said it reflected the opposition’s fear of strong youth participation.

“This is what desperation looks like,” Gonsalves said, addressing the crowd. “The NDP is trying to stop young people from coming out tonight, but they cannot stop the spirit of our youth.”

The Prime Minister did not provide details on the locations of the reported blockages, but he urged attendees to remain calm and continue making their way to the rally by any available route.

There has so far been no immediate response from NDP officials regarding the allegations.

Tonight’s ULP youth rally is one of the party’s key pre-election events, drawing large turnout and significant online attention. Supporters at the venue reported ongoing delays and traffic disruptions, though the cause of the congestion remains unclear.

More updates to come as the situation develops.
