Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves on Saturday night accused the opposition New Democratic Party (NDP) of attempting to “buy out” or bribe Jamaican dancehall star Masicka ahead of the Unity Labour Party’s (ULP) youth rally.

Speaking to a large crowd of supporters, Gonsalves claimed that Masicka’s management team informed the ULP that individuals linked to the opposition had approached them with an offer to redirect the artiste’s scheduled performance.

According to Gonsalves, Masicka’s manager allegedly told the ULP team that there was “only one Don in St. Vincent and the Grenadines — and that is the World Boss, the Comrade.”
The Prime Minister used the declaration to energize the audience, suggesting it was evidence of loyalty to the ULP and its leadership.

Gonsalves did not provide further details of the alleged attempt, and the NDP has not yet issued a response to the Prime Minister’s claims. The remarks, however, immediately circulated across social media overnight, sparking debate among party supporters and observers.

Masicka appeared as scheduled at the ULP youth rally, performing several of his popular hits to an enthusiastic crowd. The event was part of the party’s continued push to mobilize young voters ahead of the next general election.

Cliplet News will update this story as more information becomes available, including any response from Masicka’s management or the NDP.
