Distinguished attorney Stanley Kendrick John, KC, popularly known as “Stalky,” is set to be sworn in as the eighth Governor General of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

The official swearing-in ceremony will be held at Government House, according to an announcement from the Agency for Public Information dated January 4, 2026.

John, a highly respected legal mind, has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in law, earning national and regional recognition for his service to the legal profession. He has been awarded the prestigious title of King’s Counsel (KC), an honour reserved for senior advocates who have demonstrated exceptional merit and integrity.

His appointment as Governor General marks a significant milestone in the country’s constitutional life, as he assumes the role of the monarch’s representative in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

The ceremony is expected to be attended by senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, the judiciary, and invited guests, as the nation formally welcomes its new head of state’s representative.

John succeeds outgoing Governor General Dame Susan Dougan, who served with distinction over the past years.
