The National Council of St Vincent and the Grenadines Associations UK has officially welcomed His Excellency J.M. Brereton Horne as the country’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, marking the occasion with a diplomatic reception in London on March 7, 2026.

The reception, held at the High Commission, also honoured The Honourable Dwight Fitz-Gerald Bramble and brought together members of the Vincentian diaspora, community leaders, and distinguished guests in a strong show of unity and national pride.

High Commissioner Horne steps into the role with a distinguished legal career spanning more than 25 years as a barrister in England and Wales. Having studied and built his professional life in the United Kingdom, his appointment represents both experience and familiarity with the UK’s legal and social landscape. He is supported by his wife, Andrea Horne, and their children, reflecting a family grounded in service and commitment.

His appointment comes at a time when strengthening diplomatic ties and deepening diaspora engagement remain key priorities for St Vincent and the Grenadines. As High Commissioner, Horne is expected to play a central role in reinforcing existing relationships with the United Kingdom while building new partnerships across his areas of accreditation. Equally important is his mandate to connect more closely with the Vincentian community in the UK, recognising the diaspora as a vital pillar of national development.

The National Council expressed full confidence in his leadership, noting that his track record of professionalism, cooperation and dedication positions him well to advance the country’s interests abroad. The organisation highlighted the importance of continued collaboration between the High Commission and diaspora groups to strengthen cultural, economic and social ties.

In his address to attendees, High Commissioner Horne underscored his commitment to inclusive leadership and open engagement.

“I am deeply honoured to serve our people — all our people,” he said. “I look forward to engaging with the Vincentian community, listening to your perspectives and experiences, and working together as we strengthen our connections both here in the United Kingdom and at home in St Vincent and the Grenadines. My intention is to lead the work of the High Commission in a spirit of openness — we are here to serve you.”

His remarks were met with strong support from attendees, many of whom welcomed his emphasis on accessibility and collaboration. The event provided an opportunity for dialogue, networking, and renewed commitment to shared goals among community members and officials.

The reception also symbolised a broader vision of unity within the diaspora, as organisations and individuals reaffirmed their role in supporting national progress and maintaining strong cultural ties to St Vincent and the Grenadines.

As High Commissioner Horne begins his tenure, there is growing optimism that his leadership will further strengthen the longstanding relationship between St Vincent and the Grenadines and the United Kingdom, while fostering deeper engagement with Vincentians across the UK.

The evening closed on a note of optimism and collective purpose, highlighting the importance of partnership, representation and community in shaping the future of the nation both at home and abroad.
